Google announces health-related AI summaries in Search

Google has revealed AI summaries connected to health in search so that users may compare their own health issues to those of others. Known as “What People Suggest,” it will compile feedback from other people who have experienced comparable symptoms.

For example, a person with arthritis would look for activities to help with their discomfort.

The function will be accessible on U.S. mobile devices, according to a blog post from the business.

The massive search engine has also used AI to broaden its knowledge panels, which were previously limited to common health themes, to include thousands of health-related topics. Mobile users will now be able to access the information boxes or panels in other languages and nations, such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese.

The business also unveiled TxGemma, a set of open models built on Gemma that may enhance AI-powered drug discovery by analyzing chemical, protein, and molecular structures and assisting researchers in forecasting characteristics for possible novel treatments.

Google’s “Loss of Pulse Detection” technology, which was included in the Pixel Watch 3, was authorized by the FDA in February. When a pulse is lost, the function immediately contacts emergency services.

Using Gemini 2.0, the search engine giant also introduced an AI co-scientist to assist biomedical researchers in developing new ideas and strategies.
