Goldman Sachs launches AI assistant firmwide, memo shows

An internal document obtained by the media revealed that Goldman Sachs on Monday announced the firmwide rollout of an AI assistant, a tool powered by generative AI, to increase productivity.

According to the message that Chief Information Officer Marco Argenti delivered to colleagues, the bank already has over 10,000 employees utilizing the GS AI Assistant.

With the formal company-wide introduction of the AI tool, Goldman joins a lengthy list of large banks that are already using the technology to aid staff with daily chores and to shape their operations in a targeted manner.

AI solutions from Citigroup include Citi Stylus, which aids with document summarization and comparison, and Citi Assist, which searches internal bank regulations and procedures.

While Bank of America’s virtual assistant, Erica, concentrates on the daily transactions of retail consumers, Morgan Stanley has a chatbot that assists financial advisers in their contacts with clients.

Goldman staff will benefit from the GS AI assistant’s assistance in “summarizing complex documents and drafting initial content to performing data analysis,” the internal memo said.
