The Government of Goa has launched “Goa AI Mission 2027,” a strategic initiative aimed at building an inclusive, AI-powered ecosystem that supports innovation, governance, and entrepreneurship across the state.
The initiative, unveiled by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, positions Goa as the first state in India to develop a comprehensive state-level AI strategy. The mission is being led by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications in partnership with Goa Institute of Management (GIM).
“Our goal is to harness AI to solve local problems, improve public service delivery, and promote inclusive development,” said Dr. Sawant during the launch. “Goa AI Mission 2027 is about preparing the state’s youth, entrepreneurs, and government agencies for the digital future.”
The government will focus on setting up AI innovation hubs, launching AI skilling programs for students and professionals, and supporting startups that use AI for solving real-world challenges. The mission also aims to foster collaborations with industry, academia, and civil society to ensure ethical and responsible AI development.
Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director of GIM, stated, “This initiative will empower our youth and business community with the tools to thrive in an AI-driven economy. It’s a forward-thinking model that other states can look up to.”
With the launch of Goa AI Mission 2027, the state is laying the foundation for a robust and inclusive digital economy, aligned with India’s broader digital transformation goals.
