Sandra Porras has been named the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Garnica, a producer of high-end sustainable plywood, with immediate effect. She will also report directly to Álvaro González, CEO of Garnica, and be a member of the Steering Committee.
Porras brings a plethora of knowledge to her new position at Garnica, having worked in corporate finance, accounting, and strategic management for more than 20 years. After being hired as CFO of Abengoa Bioenergy in 2015, she oversaw the company’s financial reorganization and dealt with a number of operational issues. Porras, who most recently held the positions of CFO and Chief Strategic Officer at Terratest, has a wealth of expertise working with private equity-backed businesses.
In his capacity as CFO of Garnica, Porras will oversee the Finance and IT divisions and be instrumental in establishing the organization’s financial plan, assisting in its expansion and adjustment to the ever-changing worldwide marketplace.
“Garnica is a progressive company and recognizes diversity not as a requirement, but as a strategic advantage,” said Álvaro González, CEO of Garnica. “By fostering an inclusive culture, we not only empower our people, but also position our company to innovate and grow in an increasingly complex global market. I have no doubt that Sandra’s leadership will be instrumental in maintaining Garnica’s strong financial position as it continues to expand its presence in North America.”
“I am excited to join Garnica at such a pivotal moment in the company’s journey,” Porras added. “Its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and excellence aligns seamlessly with my own values and I look forward to working with the team to continue driving the company’s growth and success on a global scale.”
The hiring of Porras by Garnica and the subsequent hiring of Marta Cepero as chief procurement and quality officer serve as further evidence of how crucial gender equality is to fostering innovation and corporate expansion. The organization is dedicated to expanding the number of women in senior roles and making sure every worker has an equal chance to contribute to the company’s ongoing success, even while it recognizes that more work needs to be done.
