Garmin has introduced a new WhatsApp application for its compatible smartwatch lineup, allowing users to stay connected directly from their wrists without needing to use their smartphones.
The app is available for free via the Connect IQ Store and supports select models across the fēnix, Forerunner, Venu, and vívoactive series.
The integration brings key WhatsApp features to Garmin devices, enabling users to manage conversations more efficiently on the go. Users can view recent chats, read and reply to messages using the smartwatch keyboard, send emoji reactions, and scroll through up to 10 previous messages. The app also allows users to view incoming WhatsApp calls and decline them directly from the watch.
At present, WhatsApp is the first and only third-party messaging app officially supported on Garmin smartwatches. The application has been developed through Garmin’s Connect IQ platform, which enables developers to create apps using smartwatch features and sensors.
Users can download the app from the Connect IQ Store, Garmin’s main platform for apps, watch faces, and other device customisations. The store is accessible through both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
