Flipkart has rolled out a new and expanded exchange program designed to give customers instant value for their old products and provide easy upgrade options. Covering 26 categories, the initiative includes mobile phones, electronics and large appliances. It aims to make premium products more affordable and accessible, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
The program introduces an AI-powered screening system at its core. According to the company, this system ensures fast and transparent evaluations using a 10-step diagnostic process handled by trained experts. Within minutes, it checks both internal functionality and external condition, helping customers receive instant exchange value while maintaining competitive rates and convenience.
Flipkart describes unused appliances and devices in households as a form of “currency at home” that can now be turned into instant value for new purchases. The program allows exchanges within the same category, such as swapping an old appliance for another, or across different categories, such as replacing a refrigerator with a washing machine or exchanging a mobile phone for a laptop. Smaller appliances like fans or microwaves can also be traded for items such as geysers, water purifiers, chimneys or vacuum cleaners.
How the program works:
- Select the product and tap on the ‘Exchange Offer’ option.
- Enter details such as brand, model and condition to view the exchange value.
- The exchange value is deducted instantly from the new purchase price.
- Place the order with delivery slot and address details.
- At delivery, an expert inspects the old product, confirms the value and completes the process through OTP verification.
Ahead of the festive season, Flipkart is strengthening its ReCommerce ecosystem with AI-based pricing engines, app-driven diagnostics, image authentication and wider seller participation. The company has also introduced smartphone exchanges through Flipkart Minutes, making it the first in India to provide instant mobile swaps through quick commerce.
Its SellBack program continues to expand across more than 45 cities, offering customers the option to sell their old phones, with additional benefits for choosing Flipkart gift cards. To ensure sustainability, Flipkart works with certified e-waste recyclers to safely process and reuse exchanged items.
