Flipkart Announced Akash Jain as Director of Marketing, Head of Media

Flipkart has named Akash Jain as its new Director of Marketing and Head of Media, bringing in nearly ten years of expertise to the role. Jain has been with Flipkart for almost seven years, where he played a significant role in shaping the company’s media and marketing strategies across various categories.

In his new position, Jain will oversee the digital and Above The Line (ATL) media strategies for Flipkart’s core business as well as its emerging verticals, including the recently introduced quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes. His focus will be on launching creative advertising campaigns and refining media strategies to help Flipkart further solidify its competitive position in India’s e-commerce market.

Before this, Jain held the role of Head of Media – Associate Director at Flipkart, where he helped build successful media strategies for major categories like mobiles, electronics, fashion, beauty, and appliances. He also played an instrumental role in boosting the media presence of emerging businesses such as health, fintech, and grocery.

Prior to Flipkart, Jain had a notable career in digital marketing, having worked with Odigma (an Infusion company) and founded ContentKulture.in, a platform for coupons and giveaways.

This announcement comes at a time when Flipkart is seeing strong growth. In FY24, Flipkart Internet reported a 21% increase in revenue, reaching ₹17,907.3 crore. The company’s advertising revenue also grew significantly, crossing ₹5,000 crore, reinforcing Flipkart’s influence as a key advertising platform. The company is also making strides in its quick commerce sector, with Flipkart Minutes, aimed at offering faster deliveries in select cities.
