Moving beyond wearables into connected care, the co-founders of Fitbit have introduced a new platform aimed at simplifying how families track and manage health information.
James Park and Eric Friedman, who exited Google 2 years ago, have launched a new health monitoring platform called Luffu. The platform is described as an “intelligent family care system” designed to bring health data from multiple sources into one place.
Luffu collects and records health data from connected services such as Apple Health and Fitbit. It also captures information shared directly by family members through voice prompts, text messages, or photos, creating a central and shared health record.
At the core of the platform is artificial intelligence. Luffu’s AI works quietly in the background to extract and organise key health details. It can also respond to direct questions about a family member’s health. For example, it can explain how a change in diet may affect sleep quality or confirm whether a specific medication was taken on time. This approach reduces the need to switch between multiple apps during doctor visits or emergency situations.
The AI system also enables proactive health monitoring. Instead of only reacting to questions, Luffu tracks changes in health patterns over time. It can provide “insights and alerts” such as missed medications or unusual health metrics that may signal the early stages of serious health conditions. This feature positions Luffu as a more comprehensive tool for ongoing family health oversight.
The platform is currently in a private testing phase, with interested users able to join a waitlist through the official website. Luffu will first be launched as a mobile application.
Looking ahead, the startup plans to expand beyond software. The founders said the company aims to develop “complementary hardware devices that together provide peace of mind,” signalling a broader and long-term vision for the platform as an integrated family health monitoring ecosystem.
