EY and Microsoft launch free AI Skills Passport to boost youth employability

EY and Microsoft have jointly introduced the AI Skills Passport, a free online learning programme designed to help students and early-career professionals develop essential skills in artificial intelligence. Aimed at individuals aged 16 and above, the initiative focuses on making quality AI education accessible and inclusive for everyone.

With more than 40,000 participants across the world, the programme is expected to play a major role in narrowing India’s AI skills gap. It provides practical, self-paced learning modules available in both English and Hindi.

Monesh Dange, Partner and Leader, Alliances and Ecosystems, EY India, said, “In an era where AI is revolutionising work and redefining career paths, the launch of the AI Skills Passport is a panacea for India’s growing demand for skilled AI talent. Together with Microsoft, we’re committed to ensuring this program is not only free but also impactful at scale.”

The AI Skills Passport includes 10 hours of modular content covering AI fundamentals, responsible AI, and real-world applications across sectors such as healthcare, finance, and technology. It also provides guidance on resume building and interview preparation to enhance career readiness.

Bhaskar Basu, Enterprise Partnerships Leader, Microsoft India and South Asia, said, “AI is transforming India’s digital economy, with youth at its core. The AI Skills Passport reflects our vision of ‘AI for all’ and our commitment to fostering future-ready talent.”

As part of the EY Ripples initiative, EY will partner with not-for-profit organisations to extend the programme to students from economically weaker sections. These students will receive mentorship and career guidance to help them build sustainable, future-ready careers.
