Hyderabad-based deeptech startup EON Space Labs has raised $1.2 million (approximately Rs 10.5 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round led by MGF Kavachh, with additional backing from HHV Advanced Technologies.
The funds will be used to scale up manufacturing of the company’s AI-powered electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) payloads, strengthen its engineering team, and support upcoming product launches, according to an official statement from EON.
Founded in 2022 by Sanjay Kumar, Punit Badeka, and Manoj Kumar Gaddam, EON Space Labs is incubated at IIT Madras and focuses on developing next-generation Earth Observation imaging solutions for satellites, drones, and ground systems. The startup designs and produces lightweight, miniaturised EO/IR systems that are up to three times more compact than traditional payloads, significantly reducing deployment costs while maintaining high image quality.
EON’s key innovations include the MIRA space telescope, currently under validation, and the LUMIRA EO/IR platform, which has already received certification to military standards. The company follows a fully vertically integrated approach, managing everything from optical design to in-house prototyping and manufacturing. This end-to-end control helps deliver precision, speed, and reliability across the product lifecycle.
The company has also begun forging international partnerships and has secured multiple commercial orders after successful proof-of-concept demonstrations. As part of its growth strategy, EON Space Labs plans to introduce four new variants of its LUMIRA EO/IR systems. These upcoming models are designed for long-range detection of people, vehicles, threats, and drones using drone-based and ground-based surveillance platforms.
