New Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Wastewater, has been appointed by Energy Recovery. Following Farshad Ghasripoor’s resignation after 12 years with the organization, Ram Ramanan will take over as CTO on March 3. David Kim-Hak was also elevated by Energy Recovery to Vice President, Wastewater, a new position designed to take advantage of expansion prospects in the treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater.
“We are charting a path forward that is disciplined and driven by technical, operational, and cultural excellence,” said David Moon, Energy Recovery President and CEO. “Ram and David’s leadership will help realize our strategic vision for profitable, sustained growth across multiple markets. I also want to thank Farshad for his many years of service and technical leadership.”
Creating revolutionary products and cultivating inventive cultures at startups, IPO-stage enterprises, and established industry leaders are just a few of Dr. Ramanan’s more than 30 years of varied leadership experience. Through design innovation, process optimization, and strategic collaborations, Dr. Ramanan launched advanced technologies, grew international teams, and prudently managed financial resources over his almost two decades with Rondo Energy and Bloom Energy.
“I am excited to partner with Energy Recovery’s stellar leadership team and deliver exceptional solutions to customers. The company’s PX technology has a wide range of commercial applications, and I look forward to pushing the frontier of what the PX can deliver,” he said.
Dr. Ramanan owns more than 50 patents and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University. He also finished his postdoctoral program at Stanford University. Through October 2025, Dr. Ghasripoor will continue to serve as an executive advisor.
Over the course of six years with Energy Recovery, Mr. Kim-Hak has advanced through positions with progressively more responsibility, most recently serving as Senior Director, Product Management and Technical Support, Water. Energy Recovery won the Most Innovative Company in Desalination Technology award at the 2024 International Desalination and Reuse Association World Congress thanks in large part to his unmatched ability to anticipate customer product demands.
Mr. Kim-Hak oversaw profitable projects and surpassed financial goals in positions with Picarro and LG Water Solutions before joining Energy Recovery. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering.
