Endex.ai, a startup focused on building AI-first tools for finance professionals, has raised $14 million in funding led by the OpenAI Startup Fund. The company is developing the first AI agent that operates entirely within Microsoft Excel, aiming to change how financial modelling, data cleaning, and analysis are done.
Launched in 2022 by Tarun Amasa and Pratham Soni, Endex.ai has spent the past year working closely with financial firms to fine-tune its product. Sharing an update on social media, CEO Tarun Amasa said, “Endex is the first AI agent to live inside Excel.” This marks a significant step towards combining traditional spreadsheets with modern AI-powered features.
Endex.ai is designed to make Excel more intelligent by understanding financial language, suggesting relevant actions, tracing data sources, and reasoning through complex workflows. All of this happens without leaving the Excel interface, offering users a seamless and smarter experience.
Amasa further explained the company’s vision: “Finance professionals do not just need search results; they need structured thinking and deep analysis. We envision a future where every firm has access to teams of digital analysts.”
The AI agent works through a network of domain-specific AI models, each focusing on a particular area of finance. This structure allows Endex to provide accurate and helpful answers for a range of tasks, including flight and hotel bookings, foreign exchange, visa processing, and more.
The recent funding will be used to expand Endex.ai’s platform, improve its AI capabilities, and increase access. The tool is already operational on both Mac and Windows systems, and the company is preparing to open it up to more early users soon.
Endex.ai’s innovation is seen as a major shift in how AI can be used in everyday business tools. By placing AI agents directly inside familiar platforms like Excel, the company is removing barriers for finance professionals who want to improve their workflows without learning new software.
This funding round not only gives Endex the resources to grow but also reflects a broader trend of integrating advanced AI into mainstream tools. With OpenAI’s backing, the startup is well-positioned to lead this change.
