Elon Musk to Launch xAI’s Grokipedia Beta in Two Weeks as Alternative to Wikipedia

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that an early beta version of Grokipedia, a knowledge platform developed by his AI company xAI, will be launched in two weeks. The platform is designed to rival Wikipedia.

Musk shared the update by retweeting a post from an X user, amXFreeze, which described Grokipedia as the world’s largest and most accurate knowledge source for humans and AI, with no restrictions on use.

The post explained, “Grok is using massive amounts of inference compute to look at sources like Wikipedia pages and ask: What’s true, partially true, false, or missing?” Grokipedia will analyse sources, identify false information, correct half-truths, and add missing context to entries, aiming to serve as a true knowledge source free from bias or hidden agendas.

Elon Musk has frequently criticised Wikipedia’s funding model and editorial practices. His plan to use artificial intelligence to find and present the truth has received mixed reactions on X. While some users welcome an alternative to Wikipedia, others caution that Grok’s training data could carry its own biases.

According to Musk, Grokipedia represents a “massive improvement over Wikipedia” and aligns with xAI’s larger goal of understanding the universe.

In other news, Elon Musk recently became the first person in the world to reach a net worth of $500 billion, surpassing Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. His AI startup xAI was valued at $75 billion as of July and was reportedly targeting a $200 billion valuation after a new fundraising round, although Musk clarified that the company was not actively raising capital at the time.

Grokipedia is expected to launch as a beta version in the coming two weeks, giving users a first look at Musk’s AI-powered knowledge platform.
