Eli Lilly Opens Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad to Boost Global Healthcare Innovation

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the Global Capability Centre (GCC) of US-based pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly in Hyderabad on Monday, 4 August 2025.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister highlighted the rapid progress Telangana has made in attracting global investments. He credited the swift development to the vision and efforts of the IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu. “We are not opening an ordinary centre or GCC, but a nerve-centre of Eli Lilly. It will manage, lead and accelerate Eli Lilly’s global operations from Hyderabad,” he said.

He further noted that Hyderabad has become the preferred destination for GCC of leading pharmaceutical and biotech firms. “We are proud that one in every three vaccines administered anywhere in the world is developed or manufactured in Hyderabad,” he added.

The new GCC aligns with the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and is expected to play a significant role in the State’s goal of building a one trillion dollar economy. The facility will strengthen Eli Lilly’s digital and technological infrastructure, enhancing innovation and efficiency across its global operations. It also aims to improve patient outcomes worldwide.

The Hyderabad centre will drive advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, cloud computing and software product engineering. It is designed to support Eli Lilly’s mission to address global health challenges while creating career opportunities for skilled professionals in the region.

The company has already hired 100 professionals at the newly launched 2,20,000 square feet facility, with plans to increase its workforce to 1,500 in the coming years.

Addressing the employees in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said, “You are not just living and working in Hyderabad – you are now part of our family. You are shaping the future of global healthcare from Hyderabad.”
