Dubai Reduces Vehicle Licensing Services by 74 Percent to Boost Digital Efficiency and User Experience

In a bold stride toward smarter governance, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has slashed its vehicle licensing services from 54 to just 14, marking a 74 percent reduction as part of a broader initiative to streamline operations and deliver seamless digital services to residents and businesses.

This transformation falls under the ‘360 Comprehensive Services’ framework—a visionary plan that focuses on simplifying procedures, improving service delivery, and aligning with Dubai’s ambitions to be the world’s most digitally connected city. Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, explained that the goal is to provide citizens with personalised and proactive vehicle services that match international excellence benchmarks.

“This step is part of the ‘360 Comprehensive Services’ plan—a new, integrated vision built on a holistic methodology that targets key areas and efficiently supports Dubai’s strategic goals of delivering seamless, proactive, and personalised services that meet rising expectations and evolving needs,” said Mahboob.

One of the key innovations includes the use of UAE Pass for secure electronic signatures, allowing users to complete all vehicle licensing services online through a single, unified platform. The integration with the Dubai Now app further enhances the digital journey, reducing the need for physical visits and long processes.

A standout example of this change is the Vehicle Registration Certificate service, which previously required 13 separate requests but has now been reduced to a single, smooth digital process. Similarly, six services related to vehicle transfers and exports have been grouped under a new umbrella titled ‘Vehicle Registration Cancellation’. Even the naming of services has been refined for better clarity and understanding.

The reforms are powered by cutting-edge technology and real-time data integration between local and federal agencies. These changes are designed to serve both individuals and corporate clients while making Dubai a global model for smart, sustainable transport systems.

With this digital leap, the RTA reinforces its commitment to raising customer satisfaction, cutting processing times, and improving the quality of public services through simplicity, clarity, and innovation.
