Wishing Ms. Laura Deaner greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!
In a key leadership move, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation has named Laura Deaner as its new Chief Information Security Officer. She will directly report to Chief Information Officer Lynn Bishop.
Stepping into this crucial role, Deaner will steer DTCC’s overarching cybersecurity strategies. Her mission includes securing the firm’s data and systems, refining its cybersecurity frameworks, and building advanced protection roadmaps that align with DTCC’s business goals and resilience efforts. A core part of her role will be to weave cyber resilience into every layer of DTCC’s innovation journey — from artificial intelligence and cloud technologies to next-gen product rollouts.
With over 25 years of rich experience in cybersecurity leadership, Deaner has made her mark across multiple prestigious firms. She has previously served as CISO at Northwestern Mutual, S&P Global, and PR Newswire, where she led transformative security programs. Her strategies introduced fresh frameworks, bold architecture designs, and impactful governance that significantly elevated security maturity.
Before her leadership stints, Deaner held senior roles at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase, and Citigroup, steadily climbing the ranks in the cybersecurity domain.
Beyond her corporate contributions, she serves as a Board Member with the Financial Services Information Sharing Analysis Center and is also on the Advisory Council for NYU Tandon’s Cyber Fellows program.
Sharing her thoughts on this new journey, Deaner said, “DTCC plays a vital role in safeguarding the global financial system, and I’m proud to contribute to that mission by advancing a resilient, adaptive and risk-aligned cybersecurity posture. This work is deeply collaborative, and I’m looking forward to partnering closely across teams to protect what matters most: trust, stability and market integrity.”
With Deaner’s expertise now at the helm, DTCC reinforces its commitment to trust and innovation, standing tall as a fortress in the digital age.
