Donald Trump Calls Tech CEOs ‘High IQ Group’ at White House Dinner

US President Donald Trump hosted a dinner at the White House on September 4 with some of the most influential leaders in the technology industry. He described the group of executives as the “High IQ Group” and praised them as the people “leading a revolution in business.”

The dinner was attended by Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Oracle CEO Safra Catz. Also present were Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and First Lady Melania Trump.

“The most brilliant people are gathered around this table,” Trump said at the event. He added that he was “very proud of them” and admired how they were driving innovation. Cook and Pichai were seated opposite the president, while Nadella sat further down the long table.

The evening included discussions on artificial intelligence, investment and the future of technology. Pichai called AI “one of the most transformative moments any of us has ever seen” and welcomed the Trump administration’s ‘AI Action Plan,’ describing it as “a great start.” Nadella expressed gratitude to Trump for bringing the group together and credited US policies for helping the country remain a leader in technology. He also spoke about the trust the world continues to place in American innovation.

During the dinner, Pichai announced Google’s plan to invest 250 billion dollars in the United States over the next two years. Nadella said Microsoft invests between 75 and 80 billion dollars annually in the country. Trump praised both executives for their companies’ contributions to the US economy.

Other attendees, including Brin, Altman and Catz, also joined the discussions, which touched on both technology and financial investments. While speaking to the media later, Trump said he would soon be in dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting, “We are having a very good dialogue.”
