As part of a broader effort to reduce costs and improve efficiency, Walt Disney is reportedly preparing to lay off nearly 1,000 employees in the coming weeks. A significant portion of these job cuts is expected to impact the company’s marketing division.
The layoffs are linked to a larger restructuring plan aimed at streamlining marketing operations. This initiative, known as Project Imagine, was introduced by Disney’s newly appointed Chief Marketing Officer Asad Ayaz to bring more alignment and cost control across teams.
The planned workforce reduction is expected to affect less than 1% of Disney’s total employee base. As of the end of fiscal year 2025, the company had around 231,000 employees. The decision to proceed with these layoffs was made before Josh D’Amaro assumed the role of CEO in March.
Project Imagine focuses on unifying Disney’s marketing functions while reducing operational expenses. However, specific details such as the number of roles to be cut in each department or the exact timeline for the layoffs have not been disclosed.
These developments reflect Disney’s continued efforts to restructure internal operations and manage costs more effectively.
