The largest bank in Germany, Deutsche Bank, announced a number of significant C-Suite changes, including the hiring of a new CFO and a change in the company’s Americas operations leadership.
James von Moltke, the bank’s current CFO and 2022 president, has told the board that he would not run for reelection when his contract expires in June 2026, ending a nine-year term.
Raja Akram of Morgan Stanley, who will take over as designated CFO on October 1, 2025, and join the bank’s executive board on January 1, 2026, will follow Von Moltke. Akram has been Morgan Stanley’s deputy CFO since 2020. He previously held a top position at Citigroup for 14 years, from 2006 to 2020.
Along with the CFO change, Deutsche Bank has also extended the contracts of Fabrizio Campelli, head of the Corporate and Investment Bank, and Christian Sewing, CEO, until October 2028 and April 2029, respectively.
According to a bank statement, Campelli, who has been in his present position since May 2021, will also assume “regional responsibility for the Americas” on May 1, 2025, replacing Stefan Simon, who is leaving the bank for “personal reasons.”
Until a permanent successor is chosen “in due course,” Paul Maley, who leads Corporate Bank Americas, will act as temporary CEO of Americas and report to Campelli.
