Dell has stepped into the earbud market with the launch of its Pro Plus Earbuds, a product that stands out for its cloud-based management capabilities. Priced at $229, the new earbuds cost $20 more than Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 and $50 more than the AirPods 4.
Like Apple’s offerings, Dell’s earbuds come with active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and adaptive audio that adjusts to let in just the right amount of background sound. The Pro Plus Earbuds also feature touch controls, Bluetooth connectivity, a charging case, and four interchangeable ear tips. In addition, a USB-C audio receiver that fits into the case allows seamless pairing with PCs. Users can further personalise sound through a companion app.
On the surface, Dell’s earbuds may appear to offer a familiar feature set similar to many models already available at much lower prices. However, the company is banking on two key differentiators to set its product apart.
Firstly, the Dell Pro Plus Earbuds are the first to receive the Microsoft Teams Open Office Certification, meaning they isolate a user’s voice effectively so that background noise in shared spaces does not disrupt calls. The earbuds have also earned official approval from Zoom, boosting their appeal for workplace communication.
Secondly, the earbuds can be managed through Dell’s cloud-based Device Management Console. This tool allows IT administrators to configure settings, update firmware, and monitor usage across an organisation, which Dell describes as “revolutionising peripheral management for IT Administrators.”
With these features, Dell positions the Pro Plus Earbuds not simply as another set of high-priced earbuds, but as a premium, enterprise-focused solution designed for productivity and workplace integration.
