Delhi Police arrest two absconders in cyber fraud and NDPS cases from Lucknow

A targeted operation in Uttar Pradesh led Delhi Police to arrest 2 absconding accused involved in separate cyber fraud and NDPS Act cases from Lucknow.

In the first case, the crime branch dismantled part of a cyber fraud network linked to an online investment scam that cheated a 61 year old man of ₹33.1 lakh. An e FIR had been registered earlier this year. During the probe, investigators found that the defrauded amount was routed through multiple bank accounts allegedly created as shell entities. These accounts were traced to a fictitious private limited company.

Banking records showed that ₹10.68 lakh was directly transferred into accounts connected to this company. While 2 key accused had already been arrested earlier, their interrogation led police to another alleged operator and facilitator named Deepanshu.

“The team found that Deepanshu absconded to Mohanlalganj in Lucknow,” said DCP Crime Aditya Gautam. He was later arrested from the area. Police said Deepanshu worked on instructions from handlers who asked him to arrange dummy directors, create shell companies and open bank accounts with assistance from bank officials. The money was allegedly siphoned through hawala channels and later converted into cryptocurrency.

During surveillance in Mohanlalganj, the police operation resulted in another arrest. Officers received specific information that an accused named Rishab Singh, wanted in a separate case registered under the NDPS Act at the Special Cell police station, was hiding in the same area to evade arrest.

Based on the tip off, multiple raids were conducted, and Singh was arrested. Police confirmed that he had been absconding in connection with the NDPS case.

Both arrests were made during the same operational deployment in Lucknow. Further investigation is ongoing in both cases to identify other associates and trace additional financial and criminal links.
