Delaware’s Chief Information Security Officer Solomon Adote Steps Down After Six Years

Solomon Adote, who has served as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Delaware’s Department of Technology and Information (DTI) for over six years, has announced his resignation. His tenure will officially end on March 14. During his time at DTI, Adote made significant contributions, including establishing the state’s first-ever risk management team.

Before stepping into the role of CISO in 2018, Adote had an extensive career in technology, which included serving as a team manager and service support administrator at DTI from 2003 to 2006. He also worked as the global information security operations manager at FMC Corp., a leading chemical company in Philadelphia.

In his early days as Delaware’s CISO, Adote expressed his goal to blend corporate industry practices with the state’s operations. His efforts were aimed at improving Delaware’s cybersecurity framework, and he successfully set up the state’s first risk management team to evaluate and address cybersecurity risks. This initiative was key in strengthening the state’s defenses.

Delaware’s Chief Information Officer, Greg Lane, praised Adote’s leadership and achievements, stating, “We sincerely appreciate Solomon’s leadership, expertise, and dedication to advancing Delaware’s cybersecurity initiatives. His invaluable contributions to visibility, threat detection, and overall strategy have set us on the path to continued modernization and strengthened our cybersecurity posture.”

Adote’s departure marks the end of an era of significant growth for Delaware’s cybersecurity programs. As the search for a permanent replacement continues, Aashish Patel will temporarily assume the role of interim chief security officer.

Adote’s resignation marks the conclusion of a career that has greatly influenced the state’s approach to securing its digital infrastructure.
