Optimized Electrotech, a deeptech firm, has secured $6 million in Series A investment to expedite the development of its AI-powered image and surveillance products for the space and defense industries. With participation from 9Unicorns, current investors including Rajiv Dadlani Group and Venture Catalysts, and the company’s own leadership, Blume Ventures and Mela Ventures led the round.
Established in 2017 by Sandeep and Dharin Shah, the Ahmedabad-based company manufactures electro-optic imaging systems for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Its solutions, which are utilized in space operations, defense, and aerospace, integrate onboard analytics with real-time data processing to provide high-speed visual intelligence in crucial areas.
Co-founder and managing director Sandeep Shah informed TOI that the firm has already raised a total of Rs 39 crore (more than $4.5 million at the current currency rate) in external finance. According to him, the new funding will be utilized to scale the creation of next-generation imaging payloads, such as high-speed space imaging and autonomous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems.
Under the Ministry of Defense’s Innovations for Defence Excellence (Idex) initiative, which includes the Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with Idex (Aditi) program, the business claimed to have won many innovation challenges and obtained four patents.
“A war that is prevented is as important as the one that has to be won. In both scenarios, the future of warfare is increasingly going to be determined by machines, more so, by knowledge and dynamic decision-making,” Shah added.
Investors said that the company’s emphasis on domestic technology and intellectual property-led strategy complemented India’s defense industry’s drive for independence.“We’re really excited to back Optimized Electrotech, a company that’s pushing boundaries in defence and deep-tech innovation,” said Arpit Agarwal, Partner at Blume Ventures.
Parthasarathy NS, managing partner at Mela Ventures, noted the startup’s “strong technical capabilities and consistent execution,” calling it a significant contributor to India’s deep-tech ecosystem.
