DeepSeek’s Impact on the Market: The Rise of Chinese AI Companies

AI startup DeepSeek has gained significant recognition in China after making waves in the global tech industry by introducing AI models that are much cheaper than those created by American competitors like OpenAI.

Beijing: A spokesperson for China’s parliament informed reporters on Tuesday that DeepSeek’s advancements signify the growing influence of Chinese companies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Lou Qinjian, responding to a question on China’s progress in AI, said what DeepSeek’s young team had achieved was “commendable”.

“DeepSeek adheres to an open-source approach and promotes the widespread application of AI technology globally which contributes Chinese wisdom to the world,” he said.

“Through the rise of companies like DeepSeek, we can see the innovation and inclusiveness of China’s technological development.”

Despite some countries, including South Korea and Italy, removing DeepSeek’s chatbot from their app stores due to privacy issues, it has been widely accepted in China, with local governments and tech companies incorporating it into their platforms.

The Hangzhou-based company is reportedly speeding up the release of the successor to its R1 model, which debuted in January, according to Media.
