David M. Pasternak joins Blue Bird Corporation as Chief Human Resources Officer

In his new role, Pasternak will lead the company’s global people strategy, with a focus on talent development, leadership capability building, and organizational effectiveness. His appointment comes as Blue Bird continues to advance its position as a technology-driven leader in safe and sustainable student transportation.

Pasternak brings deep global HR leadership experience across large, complex organizations. He joins Blue Bird from Honeywell, where he spent nearly 6 years in senior leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Talent Management & Learning, and earlier as CHRO for Honeywell Connected Enterprise. During his tenure, he led large-scale digital, organizational, and workforce transformations, supported multiple M&A integrations, and drove cost optimization initiatives. He also played a key role in building future-ready leadership and talent ecosystems across global operations.

Before Honeywell, Pasternak was Senior Vice President of Leadership Development and Organization Effectiveness at Hertz. In this role, he designed and scaled enterprise-wide leadership and organizational effectiveness frameworks for a global workforce of more than 38,000 employees. His work supported business growth, operational resilience, and performance transformation across multiple regions and functions.

Earlier in his career, Pasternak served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Black Box and Beacon Building Products. In these roles, he led enterprise HR strategy, executive compensation, HR technology transformation, large-scale acquisition integrations, and organizational restructuring across multi-country operations. He was closely involved in integrating dozens of acquisitions and establishing standardized, high-impact HR operating models.

Pasternak has also held senior HR leadership positions at Rexel Holdings USA and General Electric, where he managed global succession planning, organizational development, HR operations, and talent strategies across multi-billion-dollar businesses spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He began his HR leadership career at Tyco International, where he worked on acquisition integrations, labor relations, and large multi-site HR operations.

With this appointment, Blue Bird strengthens its leadership team as it continues to invest in people, technology, and long-term organizational capability.
