Massive Data Leak: 200 Million X User Accounts Allegedly Exposed

Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, has been in the headlines frequently. Recent events include the reported acquisition of X by xAI for $33 billion, claims of outages by attackers, and scams targeting users’ passwords. Now, users of the platform formerly known as Twitter are facing another surprise: a self-identified data enthusiast has allegedly released a database containing information on approximately 200 million X user accounts.

A data enthusiast known as Thinking One claims to have accessed this data and combined it with another breach, which they assert was leaked in January 2025.

In a post on a popular data breach forum, they stated they decided to distribute the data for free after attempting to reach out to X without receiving a response. The Safety Detectives cybersecurity team, which reported the story, noted that Thinking One claims to have “only included records of X users present in both datasets.” The result is a 34 GB CSV file containing a total of 201,186,753 data entries.

It has been reported that part of the data has been verified as authentic by Safety Detectives researchers and includes: X screen names and user IDs, full names, locations, email addresses, follower counts, profile information, time zones, profile images, and more.
