Maintel has confirmed that Dan Davies has been appointed as the company’s permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately, after successfully serving in the interim role for the past year.
Davies stepped into the interim CEO position in February 2024, following his tenure as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since 2020. He has been with Maintel since 2014, holding several key roles within the company. During his time as interim CEO, Davies has guided the managed services provider (MSP) through a critical transformation, shifting the company’s focus towards key areas such as unified communications, customer experience, security, and connectivity.
Under Davies’ leadership, Maintel also underwent a major brand relaunch in November 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s strategy to refocus its offerings. Davies expressed enthusiasm about his permanent appointment, highlighting the progress made during the past year.
“It is an exciting time for Maintel, and over the past year, we have made good progress in transforming both our market positioning and our offering. I believe this puts us in an even stronger position to support our customers in managing their service needs,” said Davies.
Davies shared that his passion for the role stemmed from his combination of technical expertise and business acumen. “I’ve absolutely loved it. I’ve always been business-focused and enjoyed translating complexity into value for our customers,” he said. His experience as CTO in 2023 laid the groundwork for the company’s strategic review, which continues to guide Maintel’s direction.
Maintel is also in the process of searching for an independent non-executive chairman to further support the executive team and will provide updates in due course. Clare Bates, senior independent director and chair of the nomination committee, noted that Davies’ deep understanding of the business and its markets makes him the ideal choice to lead Maintel into the future.
“Dan has been instrumental in the ongoing transformation of the company. His values, knowledge, and leadership position him strongly to drive Maintel forward,” said Bates.
Maintel’s transformation strategy has already shown promising results, with 79% of all bookings in the last trading period coming from its key areas, signaling strong momentum for the company.
