Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, part of the Dalmia Bharat Group has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of a seasoned industry professional to lead its commercial strategy and execution.
In this role, Durairaj will oversee procurement, contract governance, and supply chain efficiency to support the company’s growth and performance goals.
Durairaj M is expected to bring a strong techno-commercial approach to the organisation, focusing on sourcing strategy, cost governance, vendor performance, inventory management, and broader commercial transformation aligned with operational excellence.
Before joining Dalmia Cement, he served as Chief Commercial Officer for the Aluminium Business at Vedanta Limited. There, he led sourcing strategy and contract governance across key commodities and large-scale industrial operations, while also contributing to ESG and digital transformation initiatives within commercial functions.
He previously held the role of Chief Commercial Officer at Hindustan Zinc, where he focused on cost control and reduction programmes across commodities, services, and sustaining capex. His work included strengthening procurement governance through structured rulebooks, contract frameworks, and performance-driven KPIs, along with building commercial centres of excellence.
Earlier in his career, Durairaj M spent several years at Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), where he served as Chief Commercial Officer and Associate General Manager. His responsibilities covered coal planning and procurement, service contracts, sourcing of spares, ash sales, and overall commercial governance aligned with plant performance.
He also held group-level responsibilities at Vedanta Resources Limited, focusing on power O&M commercial contracting. In addition, his early career included roles at Hindustan Zinc in operations and projects, supporting captive power plants and switchyard systems.
This appointment reflects Dalmia Cement’s focus on strengthening its commercial capabilities to drive efficiency, scale, and long-term growth.
