Dai-ichi Life Group Launches First Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad Through Strategic Partnership with Capgemini

In a significant step toward accelerating its global digital transformation, Japan-based life insurance leader Dai-ichi Life Group has established its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) outside Japan in Hyderabad, India. This centre has been launched through a multi-year strategic partnership with Capgemini , a global IT and business transformation firm.

GCC Launched on Build-Operate-Transfer Model

The Hyderabad GCC was launched at Capgemini’s existing facility and operates under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. This structure allows Dai-ichi Life to build differentiated in-house capabilities, supported by Capgemini’s expertise in delivering large-scale technology solutions. Over time, the centre is expected to transition into a fully Dai-ichi-owned and operated entity.

“By adopting a BOT model, we are not only accelerating our digital transformation but also laying the foundation for in-house expertise in critical areas such as AI, data, and cybersecurity,” said Tetsuya Kikuta, President and CEO, Dai-ichi Life Holdings.

Driving Global Transformation and Innovation

The GCC will serve as a central hub for advanced software development, infrastructure modernization, data analytics, AI, and cybersecurity solutions. Its primary goal is to enhance operational efficiency and drive innovation across Dai-ichi Life’s core markets, including Japan, the U.S., and Australia, with room for future expansion.

Capgemini will provide end-to-end transformation capabilities, leveraging its strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region and globally to meet Dai-ichi’s evolving needs
“This partnership is built on a shared vision to leverage technology and innovation to exceed consumer expectations,” said Aiman Ezzat, CEO of Capgemini. “Together, we aim to co-innovate and streamline operations, enhance customer service, and set new industry standards.”

Why Hyderabad?

The choice of Hyderabad —a rapidly growing tech hub in India—highlights Dai-ichi Life’s strategic intent to tap into the country’s deep talent pool and favorable digital ecosystem. The new GCC reinforces Hyderabad’s emergence as a preferred destination for multinational financial services companies looking to scale technology operations globally.
