Puducherry Cybercrime Police arrested two people who operated a phony contact center in Haryana and deceived job seekers by pretending to be HR representatives of IT businesses.
Police say the inquiry started after Sivanesh from Puducherry recently filed a complaint with the Cybercrime police. The complainant had posted his résumé to many job portals while actively looking for work.
A guy posing as an HR representative from a reputable IT business called him lately. The complainant deposited ₹1.74 lakh to the scammers’ bank account in several transactions after thinking this was a legitimate job offer.
When the fraudsters didn’t reply, he filed a complaint.
The Cybercrime police started an inquiry after receiving instructions from Senior Superintendent of Police Narra Chaitanya, and they were able to track down Parveen and Gaurav, the accused, in Haryana. The two were taken into custody by a special police force and sent to Puducherry.
Mr. Chaitanya told reporters that Gaurav had previously been employed in a phony contact center in Noida. He then opened his own phone center and began tricking job seekers. Police investigations found that Gaurav and his associate Sandeep had defrauded hundreds of job seekers.
While a hunt is on to find Sandeep, who is still at large, the police have detained Parveen and Gaurav.
