Between July 1 and July 22, the Cyberabad police’s cybercrime wing identified 25 cybercrime cases and detained 45 individuals in different states.
Nine individuals were detained for running an illegal cybercrime call center that deceived citizens in the United States and India, while 17 of the 45 people arrested were connected to trading fraud schemes. West Bengali natives all nine of the suspects were placed under court custody on remand.
The inquiry also uncovered a number of other forms of cyber fraud, such as digital arrest frauds, voice phishing, matrimonial fraud, company fraud, part-time employment scams, and vishing. Ten of the 25 incidents that were reported involved trade fraud, five involved vishing, four involved part-time job fraud, and one each involved digital arrest, matrimony, and company scams.
Nine laptops, 27 cell phones, two passbooks, five debit cards, and one credit card used in these crimes were confiscated by police as part of the operation.
In 40 cases, Cyberabad Police were also successful in getting 153 court-issued refund orders totaling ₹99.14 lakh to be given back to the victims.
