The Cyberabad Cybercrime Police have solved 13 cases and arrested 25 people from different parts of the country during a nationwide operation carried out over a fortnight, from December 31, 2025, to January 15, 2026.
Officials said trading related fraud was the most common crime during this period, with seven cases leading to 12 arrests. Other cases involved job fraud, smishing, part time job scams, business fraud, and other forms of online cheating.
In the same timeframe, the police also helped victims recover money through legal channels. A total of 182 refund orders were obtained in 50 cases, resulting in the return of Rs 78.77 lakh to those who were defrauded.
One of the major cases involved a fake trading app scam worth Rs 1.34 crore. In this case, two people were arrested for allegedly using a forged trading application to trap victims. The suspects promoted the app through social media advertisements and WhatsApp groups, where they showed manipulated profit figures to gain trust.
In another case, two people were taken into custody in connection with a Rs 2.13 crore fake trading and crypto investment scam. Victims were misled using fake social media profiles and fraudulent trading platforms.
The police said the accused used fake identities, shell companies, and mule bank accounts to move and hide the stolen money. They also blocked withdrawals and demanded extra payments from victims.
Cyberabad police have warned the public to stay away from investment schemes that promise guaranteed or unusually high returns. They have urged citizens to report cyber fraud immediately by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
