Shoppers spent $17.3 billion online on Cyber Monday, according to data from a global analytics firm, marking the end of the Black Friday weekend.
Global online sales were up 5.3 per cent by 12 p.m. Eastern Time, and the firm expects total online spending to reach $52.7 billion by the end of the day, a rise of around 6 per cent compared with last year.
In the United States, online sales grew 2.6 per cent to $3.4 billion by midday. The firm anticipates U.S. online spending will reach $13.3 billion by the close of the day, reflecting a 4 per cent increase year-on-year.
The data highlights continued growth in e-commerce during the holiday shopping season as consumers increasingly turn to online platforms for purchases.
