The sleuths of the Cyber Crime thana conducted a workshop on Sunday at the CRPF camp in Mundera Mandi, focusing on creating awareness about cyber crime.
During the session, police officials explained the modus operandi of cyber criminals and discussed the types of cyber crimes that are most commonly reported. Sub Inspector Chandrashekhar Yadav of the Cyber Crime thana provided detailed information on what constitutes cyber crime, the different types of offences, and the precautions needed while using social media.
The officials also highlighted safety measures for digital financial transactions, including Google Pay and PhonePe, and stressed the importance of secure usage of online platforms. Participants were informed about how to lodge a complaint in case of cyber fraud through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in and the National Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930.
Practical advice was also shared on ensuring cyber security, such as not sharing personal information, creating strong passwords, and enabling two factor authentication. Suggestions were given to report any suspicious activity immediately through the NCRP portal or the helpline number.
The initiative is being held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ganga Nagar and nodal officer for cyber crime, Kuldeep Singh. As part of this drive, a series of awareness programmes are being organised at government and non government offices, educational institutions, and other organisations across the city.
