Curriculum Associates is preparing for a major expansion of its Bengaluru Global Capability Centre as it strengthens its focus on AI driven product development and global support functions. The US based classroom learning company aims to scale the centre to 15 percent of its worldwide workforce over the next 12 to 24 months.
The Bengaluru GCC currently has about 240 employees. The company announced that the centre at Prestige Tech Park now covers 40000 square feet, growing from 17000 square feet. Curriculum Associates employs more than 2700 people globally.
CEO Kelly Sia told a common noun, “We are looking to get to a representation of 15 percent of our global workforce here in India.” The company is expanding engineering, product, operations and services capabilities through its India hub.
Sia said the team is working on new ways to modernise the company’s service model. In the US, Curriculum Associates serves 17 million students and aims to reach 25 million. She added that the India centre is becoming central to global innovation efforts as the company increases its work on AI enabled learning and assessment tools. “We want to be intentional with AI, using it responsibly, ethically, and with privacy at the centre. Anything we deliver must extend the educator’s impact and save them time,” she said.
The company recently launched an alpha version of its voice enabled literacy tasks in the US. The solution uses Soapbox Labs’ speech engine to automatically score students’ reading and help teachers focus on targeted instruction. Teams in Bengaluru are managing the beta rollout.
The India GCC is also contributing to iReady Studio, which aims to improve educator support with tools and point of use resources, and to new teacher aids powered by AI.
Curriculum Associates is expanding its product portfolio through acquisitions as well. It recently acquired a Melbourne based science learning firm whose AI infused platform provides real time feedback to educators during classroom interactions. The company plans to integrate the platform into its upcoming core math programme.
The Bengaluru GCC functions as a full stack operation supporting product, technology, IT, operations, business development, marketing and services. Sia said the centre is treated as an extension of the company’s headquarters rather than a back office.
Rajeev Kapoor, Senior Vice President and Country Head of Curriculum Associates India, said “India is just another office. The culture, the values and the expectations of excellence are the same.”
Sia added that AI will continue to be a long term priority. Curriculum Associates has elevated its CTO to chief AI officer to support this vision. Kapoor said, “We want to make sure our employees have all the tools they need to work effectively and deliver on our mission.”
