US retail giant Costco Wholesale has formally entered the Indian market by setting up a Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad. The move marks Costco’s first operational footprint in India and signals growing confidence among global retailers in the country’s talent and technology ecosystem.
The Hyderabad based Global Capability Centre will serve as a technology and research hub supporting Costco’s global operations. The centre will focus on technology development, data analytics, finance functions and digital systems that power the company’s international business. It is expected to begin operations with around 1,000 professionals and may expand its workforce over time as operations scale up.
