CoRover Unveils BharatGPT Mini: A Lightweight AI Model for 14 Indic Languages

CoRover.ai has introduced its latest innovation, BharatGPT Mini, a compact Small Language Model (SLM) designed to enhance accessible AI interactions across India. Unveiled at VivaTech Paris 2025, this 534 million-parameter model supports text-in and text-out tasks in 14 Indic languages. The launch was officially presided over by Shri Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & IT.

Trained on CoRover’s proprietary conversational dataset, BharatGPT Mini stands out for its ability to function offline, making it an ideal solution for businesses and citizens in remote or resource-limited environments. This multilingual AI model aims to facilitate access to essential services such as healthcare, education, government services, and banking in local Indian languages, simply through voice commands.

The model’s design caters to both edge and server deployment, ensuring efficient AI performance even on low-end devices. This addresses India’s growing demand for fast, privacy-first AI systems that do not solely depend on cloud infrastructure. Its compact size and optimized design are particularly beneficial for deployment in low-compute settings.

Ankush Sabharwal, CEO at CoRover, expressed his gratitude and vision, stating, “I extend my sincere gratitude to Honorable Union Minister Mr. Jatin Prasad and Additional Secretary MeitY and India AI CEO Mr. Abhishek Singh for their invaluable contribution and support. BharatGPT Mini is a milestone in democratising access to intelligent conversational AI agents.”

Initially, BharatGPT Mini is being released under a limited track and is accessible via CoRover Builder, a no-code/low-code DIY platform. This platform empowers users to swiftly create AI Assistants that support text, voice, and video interactions across various systems like web, telephony, and IoT, complete with multi-language capabilities for quick deployment.

CoRover anticipates a fivefold increase in SLM adoption among small and mid-sized businesses by FY 2026. With rising cloud costs and increasing concerns over data privacy, the company projects BharatGPT Mini to become the preferred AI model for environments with limited resources.
