Commvault Joins Hands with BeyondTrust to Strengthen Privileged Access Security

Commvault, a global leader in cyber resilience and data protection for hybrid cloud environments, has announced a new partnership with BeyondTrust, a leading provider of identity security solutions. The collaboration will integrate BeyondTrust’s Password Safe privileged access management system with the Commvault Cloud cyber resilience platform, offering organisations stronger protection against unauthorised access while improving data recovery.

The partnership focuses on securing both human and machine identities across complex IT infrastructures. With growing reliance on automation, applications and AI agents, machine identities have become a critical and often overlooked risk. By combining Commvault Cloud’s advanced data protection with BeyondTrust’s centralised credential management, enterprises can better safeguard sensitive systems and information.

David Manks, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at BeyondTrust, said, “Today’s organisations are facing increasingly complex identity environments, with every human, machine, application, and agentic AI identity representing a potential threat. This new integration between BeyondTrust and Commvault provides our customers with exceptional visibility and control in managing privileged access within their backup and recovery environments, while advancing cyber resilience via Commvault Cloud.”

The integration introduces several new capabilities. Customers can store and manage credentials securely with just-in-time access, which issues unique temporary credentials that expire once tasks are completed. This approach lowers the risk of credential misuse or hijacking. Organisations can also maintain detailed audit trails, enforce least privilege access, rotate passwords automatically and regulate third-party access, ensuring compliance with strict industry regulations.

The solution further boosts resilience by uniting threat detection, AI-driven data protection and rapid recovery capabilities through the Commvault Cloud platform. It supports workloads across both cloud and on-premises environments.

Alan Atkinson, Chief Business Development Officer at Commvault, said, “Securing access points is a critical component of a cyber resilience strategy. In partnering with BeyondTrust, we provide customers innovative options to manage privileged access within their backup and recovery environments in order to combat threats tied to stolen logins and unauthorised access.”

The combined solution is now available worldwide at no additional cost, enabling businesses to immediately integrate BeyondTrust Password Safe with Commvault Cloud. This collaboration reflects rising demand for stronger identity security as cyberattacks increasingly target credentials and backup systems.
