Coimbatore Emerges as South India’s New GCC Hub

Coimbatore is fast becoming a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres as both Indian and international enterprises show increased interest in setting up or expanding their presence in the city. A new report highlights Coimbatore’s strong industrial base, skilled talent pool and innovation-led infrastructure as major reasons behind this growing momentum.

According to a joint report released by CBRE South Asia and a leading industry body, titled Coimbatore: The Next Frontier for GCCs, the city already hosts over 60 Global Capability Centres and employs more than 75000 professionals. It also boasts over 250 tech-driven startups and 23 incubators, contributing to a vibrant startup ecosystem. Coimbatore’s competitive real estate prices, high literacy rate and engineering strength further add to its appeal.

The report was launched in the presence of Tamil Nadu IT and Digital Services Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, along with other dignitaries. It emphasised how India’s GCC landscape is undergoing a shift, with tier II and III cities expected to contribute 15 to 20 percent of the total share by 2025. This decentralisation is creating new growth corridors and playing a key role in regional economic development.

The report projects that by 2030, Tamil Nadu will witness a substantial rise in the market size, workforce and capabilities of GCCs, particularly in cities like Coimbatore.

Anshuman Magazine, chairman and CEO of India, South East Asia, Middle East and Africa at CBRE said, “Tamil Nadu continues to cement its leadership in India’s GCC growth story, offering a compelling mix of infrastructure, talent, and policy support. Coimbatore is emerging as a key node in this transformation, blending its deep-rooted industrial strengths with a vibrant tech-driven ecosystem.”

With strong policy support and a growing digital economy, Coimbatore is all set to drive the next wave of growth in the GCC sector in South India.
