Cognizant Launches World’s Largest Vibe Coding Event, Aiming for Guinness Record

Cognizant has launched a global “vibe coding” week, bringing together more than 250000 employees from across departments such as human resources, sales, engineering and marketing. The event is designed to inspire innovation and create AI powered solutions across the organisation. As part of this initiative, Cognizant is aiming for a Guinness World Records title for the largest number of participants in an online generative AI hackathon.

This event supports Cognizant’s earlier commitment to invest one billion dollars in artificial intelligence, announced in 2023. By the second quarter of 2025, nearly thirty percent of the code generated internally at Cognizant was created with the support of AI tools used alongside employees.

To ensure employees of all skill levels can take part, Cognizant partnered with AI platforms including Lovable, Windsurf, Cursor, a leading code assist tool, and GitHub Copilot. Participants are free to choose the platform they prefer during registration. An internal hub, developed in just one month, supports the entire process by providing access to registration, tutorials, learning resources and project submissions.

“As we embark on the first and largest vibe coding event globally, we underscore our commitment to fostering AI literacy across all talent regardless of technical skill,” said the CEO of Cognizant. “Technology is now accessible even to those who do not require deep digital skills to use it. This transition is unlocking new value in the workplace and promoting innovation across all backgrounds.”

The event features hands-on workshops, prompt engineering toolkits, project competitions and awards for outstanding ideas. After the event concludes, participants will have the opportunity to continue collaborating through an internal community focused on building AI solutions for both internal use and client projects.

Cognizant has also encouraged innovation through its idea platform, which has gathered over five hundred thousand ideas from employees. More than eighty thousand of those have already been implemented in real client engagements. In addition, its global training programme is focused on upskilling one million people in artificial intelligence by 2026.

This landmark event reflects Cognizant’s vision to embed AI skills across its workforce and transform how collaboration and innovation take place in today’s digital workplace.
