CMF, the sub brand of London based technology company Nothing, has been legally registered as a separate entity in India. The move signals a deeper commitment to the country as a key base for serving global markets, especially in the budget and mid segment consumer technology space.
The company was registered on December 23, 2025, and will now operate under the name CMF India Private Limited. CMF focuses on affordable technology products and plans to scale its global operations from India.
Akis Evangelidis, co founder and India President of Nothing, shared the update on social media while quoting Minister of Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw. “India is increasingly positioning itself at the forefront of the global consumer tech ecosystem, driven by years of sustained progress and ambition. The work done has been remarkable.”
He added, “CMF has an important role to play in that journey and we’re happy to share that it is now a separate, legally incorporated entity in India.” He also highlighted the minister’s statement that under the Make in India initiative, Apple shipped mobile phones worth $50 billion in 2025.
Mr Vaishnaw further noted that electronics production in India has increased six times over the past eleven years, while electronics exports have grown eight times. He said the ecosystem continues to expand with 46 component manufacturing projects, along with laptop, server, and hearable manufacturers, making electronics manufacturing a major driver of the country’s manufacturing economy.
“Four semiconductor plants will start commercial production this year. Total jobs in electronics manufacturing are now 25 lakh with many factories employing more than 5,000 employees in a single location. Some plants are employing as many as 40,000 employees in a single location,” he tweeted.
Akis Evangelidis said that following the $100 million manufacturing joint venture with Optiemus, the registration of CMF as a separate entity marks another major milestone. He added that the company is on a path to building India’s first truly global consumer technology brand, built from India for the world.
