Online services across parts of India faced connectivity issues on Tuesday evening after Cloudflare reported technical problems in its Mumbai network region.
The global internet infrastructure and security provider said it was seeing an unusual rise in HTTP errors originating from Mumbai, prompting an internal investigation. “Cloudflare is investigating an increased level of HTTP errors in the Mumbai region. We are working to analyse and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly,” the company said in a statement issued at 12:29 UTC.
The issue appeared to peak around 6:02 pm local time. According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, at least 137 users reported Cloudflare-related service disruptions during that period. No widespread global outage was recorded.
While users flagged access issues across multiple platforms, it was not immediately clear which specific websites, applications, or internet services were affected by the disruption. Cloudflare did not provide further technical details on the root cause at the time of reporting.
This is not the first such incident in recent weeks. On December 5, Cloudflare reported “internal service degradation,” an event that led to widespread connectivity problems across several major apps and platforms worldwide.
Cloudflare plays a critical role in global internet operations, providing network performance, security, and reliability services to millions of websites and online applications. In simple terms, the company acts as an intermediary between users and website host servers, helping manage traffic, protect against cyber threats, and ensure smoother internet communication.
Any disruption in Cloudflare’s regional infrastructure can therefore have a cascading impact on digital services that rely on its network, particularly in high-traffic hubs such as Mumbai.
The company said it is continuing to monitor the situation and will share updates as mitigation efforts progress.
