Clark Minor Steps In as New Chief Information Officer at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Wishing Mr. Clark Minor greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has welcomed Clark Minor as its newly appointed Chief Information Officer, marking a significant leadership shift in the agency’s technology landscape.

Although speculation had been swirling over the past week, the confirmation came quietly through an official update on the Federal CIO Council’s website, where Minor’s name now appears as the department’s CIO. The agency, until now, had not made a formal comment.

Clark Minor brings with him over a decade of experience from his time at Palantir Technologies, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s cloud architecture and overseeing its platform infrastructure. His technical insight and strategic vision are expected to guide HHS through an era of digital transformation and innovation.

He takes over the reins from Jennifer Wendel, who recently announced her departure after a commendable 28-year career in federal service. In a heartfelt note on her professional network, she wrote, “Although this decision came sooner than I had anticipated, I am confident it was the right choice for my circumstances.”

Wendel’s journey through public service was marked by key roles, including her tenure as deputy CIO at HHS. Before joining the health department, she spent 24 impactful years at the FBI, where she rose to the position of acting deputy CIO before transitioning to HHS leadership in late 2023.

Minor’s appointment signals a new chapter for the department’s digital agenda. As the health sector increasingly relies on technology for everything from data protection to patient care systems, his expertise could bring both stability and innovation to the forefront.

With a rich legacy behind him and a vital mission ahead, Clark Minor’s leadership will be one to watch as HHS navigates the ever-evolving challenges of federal healthcare technology.
