Cisco Unveils AI-Powered Observability Suite After Splunk Acquisition

Cisco has announced a major expansion of its AI-driven observability offerings, following its $28 billion acquisition of Splunk. The company introduced a unified data fabric, a machine data lake, and a time series foundational model aimed at anomaly detection and root cause analysis, strengthening its position as a frontrunner in AI-enabled observability.

“With the latest innovations in Splunk Observability, we are empowering enterprises to proactively monitor their critical applications and digital services with ease, resolve issues before they escalate, and ensure the value and outcomes they derive from observability are commensurate with the cost,” said Patrick Lin, senior vice president and general manager of Splunk Observability.

Cisco also revealed the AI-powered Splunk observability agent, which applies AI across the entire incident response lifecycle. Through Splunk’s Observability Cloud and AppDynamics, the agents can autonomously analyse incidents, correlate alerts, and generate summaries, enabling faster detection of patterns and resolution of issues.

“Every company has massive volumes of this machine data, but it’s been largely left out of AI… we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what we can do with AI,” said Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s chief product officer. He highlighted that with the introduction of the Cisco Data Fabric and the Time Series Foundation Model, enterprises can now transform machine-generated data into actionable intelligence. Cisco confirmed that the Time Series model will also be released on Hugging Face in November 2025, making the technology accessible to the wider AI community.

These advancements mark a significant step in Cisco’s strategy to integrate AI deeply into enterprise observability, helping businesses enhance reliability, efficiency, and value from their digital infrastructure.
