Cisco and Tata Communications Join Forces to Advance Global IoT eSIM Connectivity

Cisco and Tata Communications have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at transforming global enterprise connectivity through eSIM innovation. The partnership integrates Tata Communications’ MOVE platform with Cisco’s IoT Control Center to simplify and scale Internet of Things (IoT) deployments worldwide.

Enterprises often face challenges such as fragmented SIM hardware, multiple vendors, complex provisioning, and lack of interoperability, which increase costs and slow down expansion. The new collaboration is designed to address these issues and provide seamless global connectivity.

Tata Communications MOVE, which already manages more than 350 million eSIM operating systems across over 200 countries, will now be integrated into Cisco’s IoT Control Center. Cisco’s platform is trusted by 32,000 enterprises and supports more than 270 million IoT SIM devices, including 100 million connected cars.

The partnership will enable enterprises to:

  • Simplify activation and management across SIM providers, networks, and eSIM standards

  • Reduce integration challenges and avoid vendor lock-in

  • Gain improved visibility and control across IoT ecosystems

  • Accelerate time-to-market with streamlined connectivity

Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVE, said the collaboration would allow businesses to “scale faster, streamline operations, and unlock new opportunities” as eSIM technology continues to reshape enterprise connectivity.

Masum Mir, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Provider Mobility, called eSIM a foundational technology for IoT, adding that Cisco chose Tata Communications as a partner due to its strong expertise in mobility services and connected vehicle solutions.

The collaboration is expected to significantly impact industries such as transportation, logistics, and manufacturing, where reliable and flexible connectivity is critical. For example, trucking companies operating cross-border fleets or utilities managing infrastructure across different networks will be able to function without device reconfiguration.

With this partnership, Cisco and Tata Communications aim to set new benchmarks for interoperability, scalability, and lifecycle intelligence in IoT, empowering enterprises to accelerate digital transformation, optimise connected operations, and create new revenue opportunities.
