Chandigarh Police Launches ‘Cyberthon.ai 2025’ to Fortify Cybersecurity and Digital Innovation

The Chandigarh Police has launched Cyberthon.ai 2025 at the Infosys Campus, IT Park, Chandigarh — a leading event designed to enhance cybersecurity through innovation, collaboration, and advanced technology.

The inauguration was led by Sh. Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, W/IGP UT Chandigarh, alongside Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP/Cyber, Sh. A. Venkatesh, DANIPS, Dy.SP/Cyber, along with Master Hacks from Infosys and PEC, and representatives from HDFC Bank.

Cyberthon.ai 2025 saw enthusiastic involvement from top experts in technology, academia, law enforcement, and young innovators from the region.

The keynote speech emphasized the vital role of Hackathons and Cyberthons as collaborative platforms for addressing real-world cybersecurity issues. While Hackathons encourage cross-disciplinary innovation and problem-solving, Cyberthons are specialized events focused on cybersecurity and digital safety, which are increasingly crucial in today’s fast-changing digital landscape.

Since this initiative began in 2019, the Chandigarh Police has successfully organized several editions of Hackathons and Cyberthons. The Cyberthon.ai 2025 edition continues this tradition by focusing on high-impact areas such as: Deepfake detection, tracking cryptocurrency-related crimes, analyzing social media threats, and developing AI-powered policing tools.

Out of 81 initial nominations, expert mentors from Infosys and PEC have shortlisted 11 promising teams. These teams will participate in a two-day, marathon-style coding competition on June 13th and 14th, 2025, creating practical, real-time solutions to combat current cybercrime threats.

This initiative represents a significant advancement in equipping India’s policing systems to confront modern digital threats and empowers the upcoming generation of cybersecurity professionals.
