CERT-In Warns Google Chrome Users to Update Immediately After Critical Security Flaws Found

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued an urgent security advisory for Google Chrome users following the discovery of multiple high-risk vulnerabilities in the browser. The advisory, released on Wednesday, covers Chrome versions for Windows, macOS and Linux, warning that these flaws could allow attackers to run malicious code or gain access to sensitive information on affected systems.

According to CERT-In’s latest bulletin (CIVN-2025-0250), the vulnerabilities could be exploited remotely when users visit specially crafted websites. This could enable attackers to execute arbitrary code, cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition or steal private data. The agency has classified the flaws as “high risk” and strongly advised both individual users and organisations to update Google Chrome to the latest version without delay.

The impacted versions include Google Chrome prior to 141.0.7390.65/.66 for Windows and macOS, and prior to 141.0.7390.65 for Linux. The identified vulnerabilities are tracked as CVE-2025-11211, CVE-2025-11458 and CVE-2025-11460.

To protect against potential exploits, CERT-In has advised users to upgrade Chrome to version 141.0.7390.65/.66 on Windows and macOS, and version 141.0.7390.65 on Linux. Users should ensure their browsers are set to update automatically or manually check for updates by selecting the three-dot menu at the top right corner, navigating to Help > About Google Chrome, and allowing the browser to install the latest version. Restarting Chrome after installation will apply the security patches.

CERT-In, which operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, regularly issues security alerts to help safeguard users against cyber threats. This latest advisory underscores the growing need for users to stay vigilant and keep their software up to date to protect against evolving cybersecurity risks.
