The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will begin a series of free online artificial intelligence bootcamps for students and teachers starting this September. These programmes will combine learning, mentorship, and recognition, offering participants a platform to build skills and explore innovation.
For students of Classes 9 and 10, CBSE has planned four phases of free online AI bootcamps. The sessions are scheduled from September 1 to 17, October 6 to 17, November 3 to 18, and December 1 to 16. Schools have been instructed to register students, who are encouraged to join using a desktop or laptop to take part in hands on activities. Access links will be sent to the registered email addresses, and a dedicated support email has been provided for assistance.
Teachers will also benefit from CBSE and IBM supported capacity building programmes designed for those teaching AI in Classes 11 and 12, particularly in schools where the subject will be introduced from the academic year 2025 to 2026. The Class 11 training sessions are scheduled for September 2 to 4 and October 8 to 10, while the Class 12 sessions will take place on September 15 to 17 and October 22 to 24. All sessions will be conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm. The programmes are free of charge, and invitation links will be shared with participants one week before the start. Schools have been asked to nominate teachers who have not previously attended similar training.
In addition, CBSE is collaborating with NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission, NIELIT, the Ministry of Education, and Intel India to host the India AI Impact Festival 2025 under the theme “AI Innovation for Social Impact.” The festival invites entries in three categories: Impact Creators for students, which includes a sub category of AI for Accessibility, Impact Shapers for educators, and Impact Nurturers for institutions. The last date for submissions is August 31, and shortlisted participants will be offered mentoring by experts.
CBSE has directed affiliated schools to circulate notices, register students for the bootcamps, and nominate teachers for the capacity building programmes. Regional offices and school heads have been asked to ensure wide awareness and participation. CBSE has also underlined that the goal is to integrate artificial intelligence across subjects to make it a part of everyday learning, rather than treat it as a specialised elective.
