CAs to shape India’s leadership in the global capability center ecosystem says Nirmal Jain

The role of Chartered Accountants (CAs) in building India as a leading hub for Global Capability Centers was highlighted by Accenture Managing Director Nirmal Jain during the inaugural ceremony of the fourth edition of the GCC Summit held on Friday. The event was organised to promote India as a destination for accounting GCCs under the DITS and WTO Directorate and hosted by the Pune Branch of WIRC of ICAI.

Jain delivered the keynote address on the theme From Ledger to Global Leadership CAs Shaping Global Capability Centers. ICAI leaders including Sanjib Sanghi as Convenor, Abhay Chhajed as Deputy Convenor, Chandrashekhar Chitale as Program Director, Sachin Miniyar as Chairman and Nilesh Yeolekar as Secretary of the Pune Branch were present. After the inaugural session, former ICAI President Aniket Talati and S B Zaware released the Pune Panchayat to support large scale partnership initiatives.

Jain said GCCs had grown from cost focused support units into centres of innovation and strategic value. “Data analytics, technology integration, risk management, and global finance operations are increasingly being led by CAs,” he said. He noted that the profession had moved far beyond traditional ledger oriented work. “The next decade will be shaped by CAs who combine financial depth with technological fluency and strategic vision,” he added.

India has more than one thousand six hundred GCCs handling core business functions for global enterprises. Jain said this expanding sector creates major opportunities for Indian CAs. “If our talent adopts industry insight, technological adaptability, and global market awareness, India will define the next phase of GCC evolution,” he said.

Chandrashekhar Chitale said the summit comes at the right moment as GCCs are turning to India for advanced finance capability. “We are witnessing a shift from transactional work to strategic participation. CAs today are not just compliance leaders they are solution architects for global organisations,” he said.

Sanjib Sanghi said the Group aims to position India as the preferred destination for accounting related GCCs. “We endeavor to create a strong, globally competitive ecosystem supported by skilled professionals, policy support, and continuous industry engagement,” he said.

Abhay Chhajed stressed the need for capacity building. “We must prepare young CAs to take on leadership roles in global finance operations. With focused training on technology, analytics, and digital transformation, India can become the world’s most reliable GCC talent hub,” he said.

Sachin Miniyar outlined the summit’s goals, while Neha Phadake conducted the proceedings. Nilesh Yeolekar delivered the vote of thanks. The two day summit includes sessions on GCC trends, digital finance, talent transformation, operational excellence, governance models and the future leadership pipeline.
