In a decisive step towards fortifying digital defenses across critical infrastructure, Adani Enterprises Limited has appointed Burgess Sam Cooper as the CEO of its newly established Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity division. This appointment marks a pivotal evolution in both Cooper’s career and Adani’s strategic digital ambitions.
A seasoned veteran with nearly three decades of cybersecurity expertise, Cooper’s professional journey has traversed influential roles in globally recognized organizations such as HSBC, Vodafone, and most recently, Ernst & Young (EY), where he served as a Partner in Cybersecurity Consulting until 2024.
The announcement was shared personally by Cooper on LinkedIn, reflecting a heartfelt transition: “What makes this opportunity special is the Adani Group itself — a bold, future-focused organization that plays a pivotal role in building India’s infrastructure, economy, and global presence.”
During his career, Cooper has helmed vital positions such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Chief Technology & Security Officer, placing him at the helm of cyber defense strategies across the financial and telecom sectors.
Now, as the leader of Adani’s OT Cybersecurity vertical, Cooper is set to spearhead the creation of robust digital protection solutions tailored specifically for industrial ecosystems. His team will serve both internal Adani businesses and external enterprises that depend on critical infrastructure.
This new business move from Adani comes at a time when the digitalization of operational systems — from power grids to manufacturing lines — faces growing threats from sophisticated cyber attacks.
Cooper expressed the magnitude of the mission ahead in his post: “Over the years, I’ve witnessed firsthand how quickly technology has advanced — and how critical it is to secure the infrastructure that powers our world. From financial systems to factories and power grids, the threat landscape is only becoming more complex.”
He further emphasized the urgency and scale of the challenge: “With the global industrial backbone becoming increasingly digital, protecting critical infrastructure is more urgent than ever. That’s the challenge we’re taking on — by building a world-class OT cybersecurity services company, headquartered in India, and built to meet the needs of large-scale industries both within the Adani Group and beyond.”
This announcement signals more than just a role change — it symbolizes a bold new chapter in India’s cybersecurity narrative, with Adani betting big on digital resilience and industrial protection under a globally respected leader.
